So I thought I would post first and then make an introduction thread, because I'm a rebel. My name is Sarah, I am currently 19, and I live in the land of spuds (more commonly known as Idaho in the US, though in the area I live in, I think the onions are more famous). Aside from making AMV's (since 2008) and having a fondness for anime and music, I am obsessed with animals (no rly) and they are my primary passion. I breed rats and we have goats, chickens, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and ferrets. I would like to get a ball python to make rat breeding easier but still convincing my mum on that one... I would also like to get a degree in software engineering as well as veterinary medicine, and breed/domesticate plains buffalo (forest are the ones currently "domesticated" and they aren't endangered like plains). For now though, I'm going for computer science and to be a computer technician. Not many know of rats as pets (or think they're yucky and unsuitable pets), so here's a picture of Apollo, one of my favorite ratties. He's a very rich and gorgeous fawn. He's also about to boggle (something they do when content/happy) in this photo. XD

Hi Sarah! And welcome to the forum . Rebels are always welcome in here, as long as they follow the rules....wait... In any case, you'll find some members here that share your philosophy of "punk as hell" . You have some awesome aspirations and it looks like you know what you want in life, and that's always a great quality. It's a shame the concept that people have on rats, but don't worry we'll spread the love for these cuties because they deserve it <3. I'm curious about his name, did you choose it (and is there a reason)?. Pictures of pets (or animals in general) is something that everyone appreciate so don't hesitate to upload more = ). Hope you have fun in the forums. Bye!

Thanks! Yay for spreading the love, though I do think they're dirty and stinky, that's just part of the love. >o They're also loving, silly, and adorable. I think when most people think "rat" they think of the wild rat who is agouti, skiddish, fast, and bites! Some rats are certainly like this, but most aren't, because that makes having them as pets or even snake food (it isn't nice when both the owner and snake get injured!), difficult. Oh and Apollo was named after the greek god Apollo, seeing as how he is described as the god of the sun (among many other things) and he's a very orange rat, I thought it'd fit well. I go between naming animals after gods/goddesses or giving them generic names usually based off of appearance or behavior or both. Originally I was using Norse names (Norse Mythology is my favorite mythology) but I started running out, then I discovered Greek mythology and there is an even larger assortment of names to choose from... Alright, will do! I think I'll actually start a pet thread in Off Topic.

Nice to meet you . I love animals too! Though I don't have many photos of my pets, I have a puggle, ducks, chickens, pigeons, fish, and a giant tortoise. I think rats are cute . They're so smart too . I hope we can be good friends
